"Home&Office?": La Exposición que Presenta Soluciones para la Rehabilitación Sostenible de Vivienda Social de Posguerra

Exhibition of the research results and prototype design project for the sustainable renovation of post-war social housing in Germany.

As a result of the research project funded by the Innovation and Transfer Funds of HS Mainz, Marta Pelegrín of MEDIOMUNDO architects has organised the exhibition “Home&Office?: UPCYCLE POST WAR MASS SOCIAL HOUSING”. The exhibition presents the outcomes of research and teaching focused on designing an architectural prototype for the sustainable rehabilitation of social housing built in Germany after the Second World War.

Prototype for Optimal Energy and Construction Rehabilitation

The project on display features a full-scale 1:1 analogue prototype, as well as digital models viewable with technologies such as HoloLens and VR-Lens. These prototypes demonstrate a modular system, adaptable to each residential typology and the functional requirements of users, aimed at achieving optimal energy and construction rehabilitation of these housing complexes.

In addition to the technical work, the exhibition also presents to stakeholders—including the authorities, residents, and interested parties—proposals for the adaptation, functional reprogramming, and improvement of the sustainability of these social housing complexes to meet contemporary domestic needs and programmes.

Recovering the Legacy of Post-War Social Housing

The research project led by Pelegrín and MEDIOMUNDO architects seeks to recover and add new value to the social housing complexes built in Germany after the Second World War, focusing on case studies in the Frankfurt-Mainz region.
