2024 Project Exhibition – 1st Semester Architecture HS-Mainz

2024 Project Exhibition – 1st Semester Architecture HS-Mainz

At MEDIOMUNDO, led by Marta Pelegrín and Fernando Pérez, we understand architecture as an active, experimental learning process in constant dialogue with space and materials. During October and November 2024, we coordinated the Project Exhibition for the first semester of the 2024 Architecture course at Hochschule Mainz (HS-Mainz), at Holzstrasse 36 and LUX Pavilion.

Our teaching methodology is based on direct interaction with space and the optimised, rational, empathetic, and haptic use of materials. Throughout the semester, students developed a sequence of exercises linking design actions—folding, unfolding, subtracting, stacking, inverting, twinning, rhythmising, among others—with essential techniques for working with materials such as stone, wood, metal, concrete, rammed earth, bamboo, cork, and recycled materials.

This exhibition reflects a collective process that fosters creativity, sensitivity, and innovation in architectural design. At MEDIOMUNDO, we believe in an approach to architectural education that integrates practice, critical reflection, and material experimentation, convinced that these values are fundamental for training the architects of the future.

“Luis Gordillo: Confesión General” Exhibition at the Alhambra

“Luis Gordillo: Confesión General” Exhibition at the Alhambra

At MEDIOMUNDO, led by Marta Pelegrín and Fernando Pérez, we understand exhibition architecture as a process of dialogue between contemporary art and historical heritage. Our intervention in the anthological exhibition “Luis Gordillo: Confesión General”, organised by the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife in Granada, is a clear example of this philosophy.

We designed both the exhibition and the adaptation of the galleries in the Temporary Hall Museum at the Palace of Charles V, creating a journey that encompasses all the creative stages of Luis Gordillo, from the late 1950s to his most recent works. The project aimed to enhance the visitor experience, establishing a dialogue between the work of the Sevillian artist and the unique heritage context of the Alhambra.

At MEDIOMUNDO, we are committed to interventions that enrich the cultural experience, integrating innovation, respect for heritage, and a contemporary perspective that connects past and present.

“Audiosfera: Social Sound Art 1980-2020” at the Reina Sofía Museum

At MEDIOMUNDO, led by Marta Pelegrín and Fernando Pérez, we conceive exhibition architecture as a process of research, innovation, and sustainability. Our intervention in the exhibition “Audiosfera: Social Sound Art 1980-2020” at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía is a clear example of this philosophy.

We led the adaptation of the third-floor galleries, the design of prototypes for listening and enjoying music, as well as the installation and direction of the exhibition set-up. The project included developing a strategy for recycling and reusing each piece, material studies, and the creation of immersive environments through exceptional assembly and lighting.

In addition, we developed and implemented a mobile application and an integrated content system for the exhibition, enabling interaction and access to the sound experience from iOS and Android devices. This innovative work was recognised with the Award for Best Architectural Design 2021-22 by the Official College of Architects of Seville (COAS), reinforcing our commitment to experimentation, sustainability, and excellence in exhibition design.

At MEDIOMUNDO, we are committed to interventions that transform the cultural experience, integrating technology, sustainability, and a contemporary perspective on art and architecture.

“Máquinas de Trovar”. Retrospective of Pedro G. Romero at the Reina Sofía Museum

At MEDIOMUNDO, led by Marta Pelegrín and Fernando Pérez, we conceive exhibition architecture as a process of research and dialogue with contemporary art. Our collaboration with Antonio Marín on the retrospective “Máquinas de Trovar” by Pedro G. Romero at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía is a clear example of this philosophy.

The spatialisation project for the exhibition allowed us to accompany the complexity and richness of Pedro G. Romero’s work, creating an exhibition device that brings together artworks, documents, and audiovisual materials. The exhibition was conceived as an essay on the exhibition space itself, capable of generating new narratives and experiences for the public.

At MEDIOMUNDO, we are committed to interventions that enrich the cultural experience, creating flexible and contemporary spaces that engage with memory, art, and architecture.

“Eduardo de Adaro. The Architecture of Banco de España” Exhibition

“Eduardo de Adaro. The Architecture of Banco de España” Exhibition

Sala Chaflán de Cibeles, Banco de España, Madrid
October 2023 – February 2024

At MEDIOMUNDO, led by Marta Pelegrín and Fernando Pérez, we see exhibition architecture as an opportunity to activate heritage and create new experiences for the public. The design of the exhibition “Eduardo de Adaro. The Architecture of Banco de España”, in the Sala Chaflán de Cibeles at Banco de España in Madrid, reflects this vision.

The exhibition, held from October 2023 to February 2024, highlights the figure of Eduardo de Adaro and his contribution to Spanish institutional architecture. Our project revitalises the Sala Chaflán as an exhibition space for the Banco de España Collection, integrating original plans, historical documentation, and contemporary photography.

The exhibition design prioritises the visibility and prominence of the pieces, showcasing materials that reflect Adaro’s modernity and innovative character. At MEDIOMUNDO, we are committed to interventions that engage with history and context, integrating innovation, respect for heritage, and a contemporary perspective to enrich the cultural experience.

At MEDIOMUNDO, led by Marta Pelegrín and Fernando Pérez, we see exhibition architecture as an opportunity to activate heritage and create new experiences for the public. The spatial design for the exhibition “Eduardo de Adaro. The Architecture of Banco de España”, in the Sala Chaflán at Banco de España in Madrid, reflects this vision.

Our project revitalises the Sala Chaflán as an exhibition space, adapting it to the needs of the Banco de España Collection and highlighting the figure and work of Eduardo de Adaro. The exhibition brings together original plans, construction documentation, and contemporary photography, allowing visitors to trace the architectural evolution at the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries in Europe.

The exhibition design, in harmony with the restoration of the space, prioritises the visibility and prominence of the pieces, displaying materials that reflect Adaro’s modernity and innovative character. As part of the experience, we have incorporated “BANCO BANCO”, a welded aluminium bench that accompanies visitors’ contemplation and journey through the exhibition.

At MEDIOMUNDO, we are committed to interventions that engage with history and context, integrating innovation, respect for heritage, and a contemporary perspective to enrich the cultural experience.
